First ever SEXPO in Singapore
Is Singapore ready for such an event? TODAY wrote an article announcing that Singapore will have it's ever first SEXPO, following the likes of the SEXPO in Australia. I have been to SEXPO Australia 2004, and I really dunno if Singaporeans are ready for this. There were strip dancing, photo taking opps with half naked women, $2 peep shows, whipping and more. Hmm.. imagine that in Singapore for everyone to see and at a fairly reasonable price of $8 for under 21 and $14 for above 21.
The organiser also called SEXPO calls this event an educational event with the Health element as an angle they want to use as the approach. There will be exotic dances, sales of adult sex toys, talks on sex positions and etc... Interesting I must say, refreshing as well. But honestly, what will the responses be when the event really happens. Kids are thought on abstinence of sex and the various sexual diseases, which of coz is a good thing, but in the first place, will parents allow their kids to attend such an event? The recent hooha about the Adult Sex shop in one of the heartlands has erupted several mix responses, mainly on parents not allowing their kids to look or even go near the shop. At this event, kids are gng to be exposed to more than just sex toys, they are gng to be exposed to the whole topic on SEX. Are we ready for such openess?
In Australia, people dont care about who goes for SEXPO, to them, it's really some health and lifestyle show. In Singapore, being the "must have face" mentality, would people want to be seen in such an event? Are we only gng to see sleazy old men gng there to meet those exotic dancers or some young punks gng there to be amused and amazed and even be mesmerised with what is in store for them when they're legal? What would the SG government say? The Strip show Caberat caused a stir as well, no one was ready for half naked women, even if it was in the name of ART. Are we even ready for the need for SEX education, whether it's abstinence or enhancements?
For sure I would really wanna see who will attend the event, and also how they will make the whole setting, red light district kind, or the happy friendly schooly environment?
Maybe, just maybe Singaporeans are ready for such openess, such reality, such facts and such admittance.
